Hi, Dr. Anand here from Warragul Dental Care.
If you grind your teeth, can you still get veneers? The short answer is yes but with some precautions.
Ideally, veneers are best suited for people who don’t grind. But if planned properly, there’s no reason why you can’t have them.
First, we’ll check if your grinding is linked to something bigger, like sleep apnoea. If that’s the case, treating the underlying issue first might reduce or even stop your grinding altogether.
Next, we’ll look at ways to minimise the pressure on your veneers. If your grinding is stress-related, relaxation techniques may help, or in some cases, cosmetic injectables can be used to weaken the muscles responsible for grinding.

And finally, if we go ahead with veneers, wearing a night splint will be essential. If you’ve already worn down your teeth, you’ll wear down your veneers too, unless you protect them. So, if you grind your teeth but are considering veneers, let’s have a chat about the best approach for you.
